Anand, Gujarat ::

Anand is a city and a municipality in Anand district in the state of Gujarat, India. It is the administrative centre of Anand District.

Anand is known as the Milk Capital of India. It became famous for Amul dairy and its Milk revolution. This City hosts the National Dairy Development Board of India and Anand Agricultural University. It is very close to Vallabh Vidhyanagar which is an educational suburb of Anand.Anand lies between Ahmedabad and Vadodara and is a major railway stop on this line. It is a railway Junction and a Rail Line from here runs to Godhra, covering Dakor, a major Hindu pilgrimage route. It is situated on the National express highway from Ahmedabad to Vadodara.

Anand is located at 22.57° N 72.93° E. It has an average elevation of 39 metres (127 feet).

As of 2001 India censusIndia, Anand had a population of 130,462. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Anand has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 55% of the males and 45% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Anand Agricultural University:

Anand Agricultural University is a university located in in the western Indian state of Gujarat between the cities of Vadodara and Ahmedabad. This was formerly the Anand Campus of Gujarat Agricultural University, which is now an independent university. This university has three constituent colleges one each for agriculture, veterinary science, and animal husbandry and dairy science. The jurisdiction of university are Kheda, Anand, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Dahod and Panchmahal districts. The university has well equipped IT facilities and a regional e-library. The current vice-chancellor is Prof. MC Varshneya.

Institute of Rural Management, Anand:

Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) (founded 1979) is an autonomous institution located at Anand in Gujarat, India with the mandate of contributing to the professional management of rural organisations. It was founded at the initiative of the National Dairy Development Board and the support of Government of India, Government of Gujarat and Swiss Development Co-operation. IRMA works closely with co-operatives, NGOs, governments, Indian national and international agencies.
